I like Hillary Swank but come on. The GS Trophy event ended the 25th and the US team won. With help we were able to break the news on the forum. I still havenÔÇÖt found anything on any of the official BMW sites. Give me a break.

'MILLION DOLLAR BABY' AND MORE THAN TWO MILLION MILES WITH THE BMW HYDROGEN 7
10/28/2008

Swank proudly joins a select group to get behind the wheel of BMW's hydrogen-powered luxury sedan.
Munich/Woodcliff Lake, NJ. Hilary Swank, two time Academy Award-winning Best Actress for Boys DonÔÇÖt Cry and Million Dollar Baby, received the keys to a BMW Hydrogen 7 today, the worldÔÇÖs first hydrogen-powered luxury sedan. The BMW Hydrogen 7 technology melds the luxury of BMW's largest sedan with the virtually emission-free power of a hydrogen combustion engine.

With the first miles covered by Hilary Swank, altogether more than two million miles have been driven with the BMW Hydrogen 7. This impressive amount has been generated by the usage of the vehicle by numerous worldwide renowned personalities. Hilary Swank joins Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Will Ferrell, Jay Leno, Edward Norton, Cameron Diaz, Melissa Etheridge and others who have opted for a BMW Hydrogen 7 as their energy-efficient ride of choice. The vehicle has also made an impact oversees, with luminaries such as Michael Glos, German Federal Minister for Economy and Technology, and Hans-Gert P?Âttering, President of the European Parliament, and many others.

SwankÔÇÖs storied career spans 18 years. In addition to winning two Academy Awards, Swank is also the recipient of one Screen Actors Guild Award and two Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress. While most of SwankÔÇÖs time is consumed by her acting career, she has never forgotten her humble upbringing, and continues to give back as much as possible. Earlier this year, Swank was presented with the Entertainment Industry FoundationÔÇÖs 2008 Courage Award, in recognition of her efforts on behalf of the EIFÔÇÖs WomenÔÇÖs Cancer Research Fund. She also attended the worldwide renowned Charity Gala Cinema for Peace in Berlin where she experienced the BMW Hydrogen 7 for the first time: ÔÇÿHaving experienced the ÔÇÿclean driving pleasureÔÇÖ of the BMW Hydrogen 7 in February, I feel very honored being able to drive this forward-looking vehicle for a longer period of time. For me, the car is the result of a responsible research and development. What I'm hoping to do is to get people inspired to be open for alternative energy technologies which bring relief to our environment.ÔÇÖ

The BMW Group, as a pioneer, is pressing ahead consistently with hydrogen technology. The group has grappled intensively with the issue of sustainable mobility for more than two decades. Petrol is expected to be replaced by hydrogen as a source of energy in the long term. Onward this year, the BMW Hydrogen 7 will be handed over to selected representatives from the world of lifestyle, politics and economy. A small series of 100 vehicles was produced at first. The BMW Hydrogen 7 combines the full integration of hydrogen technology with the BMWÔÇÖs typical driving dynamics, refinement and interior comfort.

Icelanders are not terrorists

Gordon Brown unjustifiably used the anti-terrorism act against the people of Iceland, for his own short-term political gain. This has turned a grave situation into a national disaster, affecting families in both Iceland and the United Kingdom. Help us avert greater damage by signing this petition now.

Wonderings

The Christian Science Monitor has announced it will be dropping its print edition and moving to publishing it daily newspaper only on its website. A weekly print and e-mail version will be offered by subscription and one has to wonder how long before the weekly print version is supplanted also.

I have followed the print v various electronic forms of news since college. The speech communications part of my multi-major was U of M speak for broadcasting. In the journalism classes we took with the print focused majors we debated when electronic media would replace print altogether. Both sides of those debates were wrong and hybrids have and continue to be developed. To say the pace of this development is slower than expected is to have a moment of revelation about the prospect of emptying Lake Superior with a large beer stein.

I have left my Wonderings about the BMW MOA, ON, bmwmoa.org and the forum to other venues in the past. Yet with the Christian Science Monitor announcement I am wondering if we have forgotten the home page in our discussions of this week. It is a feature that regular forum users forget about. Yet it is an important part of our total website that many others do not have.

Unlike the daily newspaper in many markets ON will continue to have a prime role in our association. I do not see it going away nor would I support that. It does suffer from the limitations of print media. The information in its covers has varying value depending on your needs at any moment. Unless you dedicate storage and time it can be difficult to retrieve.

The forum can be used for an amazing variety of communication. Memory has become cheaper and cheaper we store more and more. Valuable information can be buried in a thread. Forget the thread title, get the search parameters wrong and that information may be lost to you forever.

As the new content management system is implemented, and I am fully aware that this is a daunting undertaking, I wonder if a clubhouse section should be created on the home page. Like the clubhouse on the forum this home page club house would be a member only area to post the variety of reports, agendas, project status reports and legal documents that are regularly asked for or about.

With advent of the web site puts us in the tug between web and print. Our home page has the possibility of meeting many of the informational needs and wants that get raised on the forum or in letters to the editor. The pages ON will continue to be important. The forum will grow as a discussion place. Is there another roll for the home page to take on?

Just Wondering

Trolls

There is a coverup here. The video mentions elves, gnomes and fairies and the only mention of trolls is in the cartoon? Something is hidden. Besides, there is far too much sunshine in that video. Lovely pics of Iceland, though. We'll go to any lengths to promote tourism. :brad

Don't believe it

The trolls grow large in Iceland, and the rock cairns are trail markers, not troll houses. Geez, tourists can get sucked into anything!
Go anyway, save Iceland from the Russians.
