Wonderings

Tuesday morning I got up and went through the dayÔÇÖs variation of my morning rituals.

The consistent part of this ritual is turning the computer on scanning the Reuters site, quickly checking the MOA forum and then going out and linking to a morning online news show. I currently live in an anti-black hole for radio signals. There is no radio reception at our home. Morning news comes through the internet. With that done I began to prepare todayÔÇÖs substance of life. I made a small pot of coffee, scrambled some egg beater type product and made it as palatable as possible with some good salsa.

I had to clear the table of a poem I have been trying to resurrect. It is an idea that came to me as I headed north on US 71 back in August on a motorcycle trip. I was on a tight schedule and did not pull over to jot the elements of the poem down instead repeated and mentally worked on it leaving the idea to be written out at some future time.

The theme of the poem is described in the draft opening lines:

Its not my bikes saddle
In verse make me praddle
It is my own seat
I must defeat

Miles passed and smiles accumulated as I worked through poetic descriptions of the various gyrations and tactics I go through to keep myself comfortable on the bike and moving onward. After exploring a particular gyration or tactic I returned to the theme confronting me in the ride, my own seat was not in road worth condition.

The poem set aside I sat down to the things at hand and found both the breakfast and news boring. I ate the food but clicked on the TED rss feed to see if there was something of interest and came across Ted HodgmanÔÇÖs talk. I listened, laughed as I ate my breakfast.

The talk was over and I clicked on a couple of other sites and then came upon the webBikeWorld piece and instantly had a Ducati bloggers line flash through my mind.

ÔÇÿI am one of only [1000] people in the world riding one of these.ÔÇÖ

Yesterday I in the process of being a pompous ass while responding in a thread I had made the observation that one of things about BMWs that appeals to me is the relative rarity of the bike in the US. The Roadster takes this a step farther by being one of the rarer models within the oil and hex head communities.

These two thoughts flashed by in an instant that is infinitely faster than it takes me to relate them or you to read them. As they flashed through my mind I scrolled down and the numbers contained in the article began to sink in and I had an ah ha moment about the vastness of the universe similar to HodgmanÔÇÖs when in looking for his girlfriend in the town of 30+ thousand people he realized how small he was, how vast the search and by extension how vast the universe.

I picked up my cup of coffee to take a sip and prepared myself for the philosophical trip my mind would take me on as I pondered the vastness of the universe and my relationship to it. But no that is not what was in store for me. A scene from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was what appeared in my minds eye.

The scene in question is the one where our band of heroes has made it into the temple to return the scull and is confronted by a wall blocking their way. Indy takes the skull from his compatriot and holds it up to the wall. In the wide shot that follows we find that the wall is not a wall at all but an intricate jigsaw puzzle combination lock that begins to come undone revealing the way.

In a corner in the lower right back of my mind I heard a noise and mentally turned to see what it was. I focused my mind just in time to see the so far related elements of my morning come together to form an irrefutable conclusion that is, well simply mind boggling.

I have proof that aliens exist and they are inept!

They have formed a colony in Germany and work under the cover of motorcycle seat designers for BMW. They make ineffective and generally painful rectal probes and mount them on BMW motorcycles disguised as seats as part of their study of a small sample group of the human population.

Who do I tell this to NASA, the Whitehouse, the UN maybe Geraldo? I would be thought of as a nut even by Mr. Rivera. I had no good answer to this problem so I share it with you as I publish it in this Wondering. You, the readers of the Morning Reads and riders of BMWs would understand.

My work is done. I may proceed with the rest of my day.
