Mirrors for 04 R1150RT

Good afternoon MOA.

I'm looking for a set of OEM mirrors in A+ condition for an 04 R1150RT, color code 363, Biarritz Blue.

Also, if anyone has any thoughts about the aftermarket ones on Ebay, I'd be interested to hear them. They look OK but they don't give you any details about the color code. I know that BMW had a lot of different blues for the 1100 and 1150 RTs.

Thanks
Chris

Personally... I'd be leery of after-market substitutes from Guangzhou China (as the ad shows), or anywhere else; they may be fine or they may be lightweight 💩

I agree with Paul. Personally I wouldn’t waste my money on Chinese made replacement mirrors. I’d recommend you check out Beemer Boneyard. You may find the mirrors that you’re looking for. Any reputable paint and body shop could match the paint using the paint code from the bike and spray them for you. That’s my .02 cents worth.

My $0.02 from a few years ago: I bought on eBay a new base plate (the part with the three spring clips that fasten onto the knobs on the fairing) and rebuilt my right side mirror. I'm pretty sure the source was China. It was good quality and has been working fine for over 20000 miles.

YMMV. This opinion is worth exactly what you are paying for it.

Moderators: Is there still a list somewhere of used parts dealers (for Chris)? Saw it in the past and can't find it now (prob'ly 'cuz I'm older). Thanks!

Thank You!!!

Chris - the list is in that "Resources and Links", part-way down the page.

Thanks everyone. Very much appreciated.

I put in a request with Mike at Beemer Boneyard and will check some of the other sources. He had some in the right color in the past. Hopefully something will turn up.

I'd be willing to take a chance with the Chinese ones if they could provide a color code which they don't.

A little history on the bike, I bought this with 12000 miles on it a few years back as a project. I took it apart down to the clutch plate. Replaced the clutch with the extended spline version from Ted Porter. Upgraded the suspension, brake, lines and pretty much everything else on the bike. Finally got it back together. The PO had let it fall over in his garage thus the scraped up mirrors. They really aren't that bad, but the bike turned out really nice and I don't want to punk out in the home stretch. Looking forward to riding again.

Here are some pics.

I’ve always loved that deep metallic blue. Definitely one of my faves. Bike is looking good. How’s it running after you’ve completed all the work on it?

It fires up right away and the throttle bodies balanced out pretty easily. I haven't taken it out on the road yet but I'm not anticipating any issues as pretty much everything was serviced when I was putting it back together.

I agree on the metallic blue. I remember when this bike came out in 2004 looking at them in the showroom. I couldn't justify the price new and I ended up getting a Kawasaki Concours instead. The Kaw turned out to be a good bike but the RT was what I really wanted.

Again, my thanks for the replies and also for all of the info on this forum. I wouldn't have been able to finish this project without it.

Yes. I second that. This is an amazing organization and community of owners who support each other with shared knowledge and a passion for keeping these old bikes on the road. There’s truly nothing else like it. As for the Kawasaki Concours, that bike is legendary in its own right as has a cult like following. I came very close to buying one myself.

I look forward to hearing your ride report once you get that beautiful bike officially back on the road.
