Magellan GPS

Anyone using a Magellan GPS on their bike? If so, which model and any feedback on its features would be great. Are they user friendly?

Thanks

Tom

I've got a Meridian Color. They no longer make them but you can still find new ones or like new ones on e bay. I bought one for my kid at Christmas for $250 with software.

I like it cause it uses SD cards which means you can load lots of maps, either on one big card or several smaller cards. I have all of North America on two 1 gig cards.

It's totally water proof. I converted a bicycle mount and hard wired mine into my 96 1100RS. I think that do have an actual motorcycle mount available.

My brother has a Garmin which he likes just fine but admits that mine does everything his does and he wishes his had the cards as he has to load his maps straight into his gps.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Magellan Gold

I have a Magellan Gold. I like it beacuse of the SD card and you can download maps. I use MapSend Topo. It doesn't have point-to-point but tells me where I am which is important for my use. I don't have it mounted but stick it in my FirstGear mesh jacket.

I do have a mount on my Trek bike and use it in my boat to mark good fishing spots at a local state park lake. I also use it hiking, in the car and also sightseeing in cities I am unfamiliar with.

I have the Magellan Roadmate. It has been very good on the bike but is not waterproof so you either need to remove it in the rain or put a plastic bag over it. With 20 g of internal memory, it has space for all of the US and Canada without changing chips. /magellan.factoryoutletstore.com
