i am in need of a windshield for my fairing. it is a seven hole shield. if anyone has one or knows where to get one please advise. it is mounted on a 1977 r75/7 and is a very old one thanks

Windjammer?

AFAIK, Luftmeister is Windjammer in drag. If I were you, I would source Windjammer. I woudl not accept one without the holes predrilleed, either.

Not sure if you have to drill holes

I believe that is the case...it's been brought up a few times in the past. I'd order the drill bit from them just to be sure I had the sharpest tool to start with. I'm kind of ambivalent on having to drill my own holes. On the one hand, I could see that a predrilled screen might not fit my Lufty fairing holes...I suppose they're all basically hand drilled. Then, if they are all somewhat unique, it makes sense to take the old screen off and put the old and new together to mark holes...even match drill using the old holes.

If you are anxious about drilling plastic a red hot nail will put a hole in a windshield without stressing the plastic. A chain saw sharpening file can ream the hole to the right size and remove the melted plastic boogers from the holes.

I have a whole Luftmeister fairing sitting in my store room right now (I prefer the naked look), complete with seven whole windshield. Some of the rubber is rotten but the shield is in good shape.

Nope. Fiberglass mold is not the same. Fairing pockets are much narrower on the Leuftmeister. And, the windshields are not interchangeable. They look alike but the bottom where they fit the fairing is not quite the same shape. And the holes are in different spots.

But other than that they are about the same.

Thanks for that information, lostboy. The PO of my bike replaced the windshield with a flat piece. They did a nice job, but it's not right. I'd like to have a correctly formed replacement, and it looks like Clearview is the place to go. :thumb

As Paul says, they are not the same. Lots of differences (turn signals, headlight attachments, windshields, etc.). I also think the Lufty is hand laid fiberglass, versus the Vetter being poured resin--just from having one of each. Lufty seems more solid.

I ordered a lightly tinted windshield for my Vetter Windjammer III from Cee Bailey and have been very happy with it...although I'm in the midst of converting the bike to an RT fairing.

If anyone is interested in a Windjammer III with lowers, PM me. Great headlight ring design with angle adjustment, one locking packet, one snap pocket, with mounting frame, etc.
