Leaking oil level sight glass 1985 K100RS

With 53K on the bike the oil level sight glass has developed a slight leak. Mr. Glaves once advised that the twin cylinder engines were more likely to expel the glass, but is that a significant risk on this motor? The glass has no circlip and I'm wondering about the best way to swap out for a new glass at the next oil change; more specifically, how to remove the old one. I assume it's plastic. Any other tips on doing this maintenance? Thanks all!

There are a lot of threads on this topic, and Snowbum has an article here.

Drain oil. Use soldering pencil to melt hole in plastic lens. Use screwdriver or seal puller to pry out old assembly. Clean all oil from recess. Install new assembly clean and dry. No oil. No sealant. Use socket on rubber only to drive fully into recess.
