How to remove false speaker covers - new RT.

My new RT does not have speakers, but I was hoping to use that space for storage. Removing the 2 screws at the bottom edge of the false speaker cover does not loosen the cover. Do you know if there are additional screws (not obvious), tabs, or gromets? I'm trying hard to not break something on a week-old bike! Thanks.

I don't know if it is the same with the new bikes, but on the 2020 RT there are two tabs which are also holding the cover - look at this picture from the repair DVD. (Be careful as they can break if treated too harshly...)

Good luck -

I tried to slide the cover to the left towards the mirror - with no luck. Am I looking at the diagram correctly? Or am I supposed to be pulling it straight back to release that upper left tab? Whatever the move that cover is very tight in place.

In a similar vein to trouble with removing pieces - yesterday when removing the large faring side pieces, I found that besides the 2 posts and gromets, there is a piece of heavy duty velcro up at the top edge. This wasn't on my 2014 and seems like it would contribute to breaking off the 2 fragile plastic tabs on the top edge as I had to pull the panel out, away from the bike, to disengage the 2 gromets and now also the velcro.

I had mine off a few weeks ago and I believe it was just a straight pull to the left (on the left side speaker) so they might have changed the attachment or, in the alternative, need more force (yeah, not much of a choice when you're not sure as to the attachment).
