I just finished putting the bike together after doing a "spline lube" & replacing the tires & clutch cable..

The clutch will allow me to put bike into gear but when i let the clutch out nothing happens.

The bike does not go anywhere. I just sit there in gear revving the engine..

No oil or grease on flywheel or clutch plate, made sure everything turned prior to closing up drive shaft by putting into gear & turning tire. While bolting up u-joint everthing seemd to be turning & engaging properly.

Any one have any ideas as to why??

I'd start by checking the cable free play should be about a 1/8 inch gag at the handle end before you feel any resistance. Look at the clutch lever on the trany with the handle all the way to the stop there should be some slack at the trany end, it doesn't take much movement to dis-engage the clutch so you need that free play.
With the motor off and on the center stand, put the bike in gear, take the cable out of the notch on the clutch end and try to turn the rear wheel that will tell you if the clutch is engaging.

I would agree that something must be wrong with the clutch adjustment. If you can shift gears, then the clutch has disengaged from the flywheel...otherwise there would be serious grinding. But when you let the clutch out, it must not be coming out far enough to actually engage the friction disk. Something is holding it up.

Could be something is wrong with the thrust bearing in the back of the tranny, hold the clutch push rod in place.

thanks

Thanks for the help.. It was the clutch adjustment/

"Help" is a particularly annoying subject line. Please try to be more descriptive next time. ;)
