Helmet recommendation?

Looking for a helmet that doesn't leak and leave drops all over the inside in my field of vision. I have 2 Schuberth helmets (C3 and C3 Pro) and they both leak, depending on circumstances I get anywhere from the occasional dribble to sheeting down the inside of the visor in a frog-drownder where I couldn't pull over. Schuberth reps and other folks who have C3s say they've never experienced the problem, and there's no adjustment. I guess I'm just special :dunno I've heard there's a C4 coming out next spring and I may wait to see if it has an adjustment but am not holding my breath.

I have a Shoei head and I know the GT Air has a user adjustment so the visor will seat properly all around, but I'd like a flip-up like the Neotec. Shoei says the Neotec can be adjusted but needs to be done at a service center, can't be done by the user so if the factory adjustment is wrong I'm in for as many rounds of back-and-forth shipment as it takes until it's right.

Anyone had leakage problems with a Neotec? Should I just suck it up and go with a GT Air? Are my expectations unrealistic? Any other recommendations?

My first Schuberth leaked down the inside of the visor big time. I took it to the vendor at the St Paul rally and he found only one side was snapping all the way shut. He finally got it to snap shut by using all his weight on the bottom of the visor. After an audible POP it worked just fine. My next two Schuberths were perfect out of the box.

Are you getting a pair of clicks when you press the bottom of the visor all the way shut..?

Chinbar latches both sides, and as far as I can tell there's only one place for the visor to latch, in the middle - and it leaks with the visor latched.

Are you sure that you were closing the face shield properly for rain? When you close the face shield normally it is not air/water tight. This is to help prevent fogging. In order to get it totally water tight you have to pull down with a finger from both hands until in snaps tight. On my C3 it was a harder pull then it is on my C3 pro. But unless you do this water will infiltrate around the face shield. Once snapped down it is totally water tight.

What ever fits correctly and does what you want , go for it. I've owned two shuberths ,that's enough . I had a Shoie r1100 ,it fit fine ,the neotech terrible headache. So try them on and then decide. I'm now wearing a HJC rpha max , I like it , but I 'm not you .Good luck

As others have said it may well be that the visor hasn't been "snapped" closed and has only been placed in the "down" position.

It may be a little misleading to say that it requires two-hands to close properly. Certainly Schuberth's instructions didn't help but perhaps I missed something, wouldn't be the first time. ;-)

My experience has been that it does require two fingers to fully close with the snap sound. I can't completely close the visor tight (weather-proof) with just one finger/hand, it requires me to use a finger on each of the two closure tabs at the bottom of the visor to get it to snap closed.

See if that works for you. It should also make the helmet a slight bit quieter as well at speed.

helmet recommendation

I have a Neotec have no leaks yet and have been in some very heavy thunderstorms this year

Alan Coles and dbaliko yes I'm familiar with the need to use both tabs to snap the visor closed. I use thumb on one tab and index finger on the other and hear it snap. Kind of annoying until I figured it out, trying one at a time basically rocked the visor left/right on top of the tab without actually latching it. You can do it one-fingered all day and never get it properly closed.

So you're saying it leaks even when it's snapped down? I haven't heard of that problem before.

the one that fits your head.
Not being smart . The only one that fits me is a Arai Profile.
Others look interesting but don't fit

Just a hint to the Schuberth owners. It's MUCH easier to snap it shut by pulling down on the top of the shield. Much less effort is required to get it to "snap" then if you try doing it at the base of the shield. And it's safer to do at speed. FWIW - if mine is closed fully there is no water leakage. If yours has leakage (1) make sure you're using the correct shield - they come in 2 sizes (2) take a look at how it seals on the rubber gasket in the helmet at the top of the shield. Make sure it's a nice uniform seal all the way across. If not - find out why. I imagine that seal might be available as a replacement part - but can't recall seeing it when I was ordering new pads and lining for my many-miles in rain C3 glowing orb.

Oh - a quandary - why is it that (1) my nose starts to itch as soon as I fully close the shield when it's raining (2) why does the itch get MUCH worse after scratching it with a gloved finger.. making it impossible not to open the shield again to scratch it again..?

I have a C3 and if it starts to rain I have to close my top vent or I will get water infiltration through that. I also have had water to come through the chin vent.

I have used the customer service several times on my helmet and each time they have been very prompt and easy to work with. Not sure where my next helmet is coming from.

Order a Shoei Neotec from Revzilla and if it's tight, you can send it back free or order cheekpads which will allow more room. Adjustments other than that? Never heard of it.

My C2 does not leak unless the face shield is snapped forward for additional ventilation. Sadly, the newer models no longer have this feature.

Other than that, the only time I get water droplets on the inside of my face shield is when I open it in the rain to defog it.

They take helmets back and then resell them I would assume?

Not something I would want.

They only take items back in like-new condition. In other words, try it on. If it's too tight, send it back. Revzilla is a top-notch company with tremendous customer service. You should check it out.

+1

Arai Profile (or it's current designation) is the only helmet for me. It's long-oval all the way.
