Hello from Victoria, BC

My name is John, most of my friends call me 'March".

I've recently returned from a seven year tour around the Pacific on my sailboat and got right back in to motorcycles. I sold everything before leaving so I've a bit of 'catching up' to do. I've purchased a 1990 R100GS from a dealer in central BC. The bike appears to be in really good condition for its age and mileage (117K Km or about 73K Miles). However, there's an awful lot I don't know about BMWs in general and this one in particular.

I've been fiddling with it - carb cleaning, new fluids, renewed ignition module, coil, HT wires/caps, and beancan. I'm gradually learning to speak BMWese. Be prepared to hear from me on the maintenance/wrenching forums.

I hope to meet some of you in the future, here on these forums, and, hopefully, in person.

Cheers,
March

Welcome to the forum March!
Thanks for the metric conversion :)
Lots of the "oldies" here, you'll do fine with the questions.
Enjoy.

Welcome to the airhead universe! If you are free and looking for a ride and want to meet like minded riders... the beecee beemers have a rally in Nakusp later this month which is well attended and quite a few airhead riders show up. Information is listed in the owners news. There are also a few members of the Airhead owners group on the island (and quite a few in BC) who may be a good source of info. The Airheads have a "tech lite" weekend annually in Midway on the first weekend in June. PM if you want more info.

We're thinking about flying to Seattle, picking up a rental and doing BC next year................

Any advice on avoiding the raining season?

tks,
Jason
