Kona Leeward (West)is the dry side, Hilo Windward (East) is the wet side of the Big Island. We had the weather gods on our side, as we had perfect weather for all 21 days.

Maui, The two-masted brig "Carthaginian II"

The two-masted brig "Carthaginian II" was a replica of an 19th Century island "lugger" like the ones that brought the missionaries to The Islands. Because of high daily cost and safety, the Carthaginian II was taken out to sea and sunk to become an attraction for dive tours.

Aloha, Rest In Peace, Carthaginian II

Day 7: Haleakala National Park extreme down hill mountain bike ride and Iao Valley.

Day 8: A very long day as we did the Road to Hana complete loop, including miles of one lane gravel path.

On the island of Maui, we toured 350 miles with Sebring convertible, all with the top down.

We were promised a Mustang convertible, but were were given a Sebring. Nine out of ten converts were Sebrings, with the one in ten being a Mustang convertible

Silversword in Haleakala crater (only place in the world) Protected in Hawaii because of near extinction, new estimates place its lifespan at 15-50 years. They bloom once near the end of their lifespan and then die.
