Harley may move out of Milwaukee!!

Imho

Nah. The Tav is closed.

Na, the tavern is not dead they (the past users of the tavern) just live in the shadows until the time is right to once again crawl out in the open across the BMWMOA floor...

Back to the subject

So Harley's moving out...sounds like a scare tactic to me, huh?

Their location is too entwined in their brand image to move.

But then again DE troit used to be a city built on auto manufacturing, go figure what I know

I don' think BMW riders can afford to "throw stones" for accessorizing...
On another motorcycle site, a member told a story about encountering BMW riders coming back from the rally in redmont and said that it looked like an Aerostitch mobile fashion show :D
And when I look at the bikes at a local club meeting, there are more than 66.6% that have satellite radio, intercom and GPS mounted around the handlebars. Not mentioning motolights, windshield extenders and all kinds of outlets to connect heated stuff for rider and passenger...
And just in case, you have been riding your GS around the world for the second time in the last 12 months: BMW is trying very hard to emulate Harley Davidson as far as pressing the dealers to single line outlets loaded with clothing and other fine "lifestyle" stuff....:dance

I'm working on a Starbucks sponsorship to ride across the country visiting Starbucks in each city I pass through. Their many locations will be convenient as I'll be stopping often from drinking too much coffee. :ha

Everything we do has a lifestyle that capitalizes off it. Someone does/makes something cool and everyone wants to look like it's their idea.

My most treasured club, the Airheads puts their lifestyle on every issue of the Airmail;
Airheads ride Beemers with air-cooled heads.
Airheads believe that the simplest engineering solutions are the best.
Airheads appreciate function over form, fact over fiction, and friendship over friction.
Airheads regard money as a tool, not a status symbol.
Airheads are earthly people who like to camp.
Airheads maintain their own motorcycles.
Airheads don't take themselves, religion or life too seriously.
Airheads like to share time, knowledge, parts and camaraderie with other Airheads

I love this thread.
Some people have a great sense of humor, others suffer from extreme humorlessness.

I also see lots of conviction to the brand. But I have read many other threads where the posters are leaving BMW.

I sense that this club is chock full of active and retired tradespeople who like to do their own wrenching, and that is wonderful!

But based on some of the PM's that I have received, I doubt that the factors (rift) that separate union and "corporate" will be resolved in this thread or club.

Getting back to Harley, I see the following scenario: H-D will put a gun to the State of WI's head, as Kieckaefer (sp?) Mercury Marine did, as and so on...

I am now donning a helmet, kevlar, and other protective gear.

Hey Howard :wave

Honestly I was curious what other folks thought. Union or not.
No malice aforethought, honestly. :love

I'll bet I get some hard looks down the road but that is how I feel. :violin

Everybody enjoy and have a safe weekend, this heat is going to break eventually!

That didn't exactly pan out that way with the Wisconsin Airheads.
There was definitely friction between them and my brother and his friend.
YMMV

Brewmeister, any comment?
:ha

What would you expect from folks who wear cheese on their heads.

This thread makes me want to go on a factory tour of Harley.

If you've ever seen a modern automated production facility, it's pretty typical, but nothing special. Parts come in at shipping and receiving and get bolted together on the line. If you've lived/worked beyond a desk/computer, it's nothing new.
