Handlebar Top Clamp

So it looks like one of the top clamps for my handlebars on my /6 is cross-threaded. I'm having a hard time finding a new one.

Shouldn't I be able to get one at the dealer? I checked A&S and they said the part number didn't exist.

Are these fairly standard or do I need to order BMW specific ones for the hole spacing? I don't really need the whole thing, just the top clamp or eve the shorter stud.

Any help or thoughts.

OH, so far the front suspension rebuild is going well. I'm waiting on a set of springs (TRYING to be patient). I need to go get a couple of new wiper rings but the beer-can spring compressor worked great once. Had a bad wiper ring on the second one.

This part is still available 32 71 1 235 879. The studs were not available seperately as the tapped holes are smaller than usual to prevent the studs backing out when the nuts were removed. A little research should get you a reasonable facsimile; they are nothing special.

Another 2 choices that you have is to look on ebay and find a good used set or take the exsisting cross threated one out and install a new stud. I actually took both of mind out at one point to lengthen the stub when I build my own bar risers. Hope that helps... my food for thought anyway... :eat :drink
