GS650 Instrument Cluster Problem

I have a 2003 GS 650. It worked fine the first couple rides after winter storage, but over the last couple weeks I've had a problem with the instrument cluster. The tach works only occasionally. the clock readout turns off sporadically. The speedo works only rarely. The odo blinks then cuts off. When I turn it off after a ride, there are clicks and whirs from the cluster, the clock blinks and then starts to work fine. All the idiot lites seem to work, and the head lite is fine. I tried pulling all the fuses and reinstalling them, to no effect. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Elvis

Hi Elvis,

Sorry we've been so slow to get back to you. First of all, I'd make sure the battery connections are good and clean and tight. Loose battery connections can cause some funky stuff on these bikes.

Take a look to see if you can find anything here: http://faq.f650.com/main.html

Then consider posting your questions here: http://f650.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=9

The folks on www.f650.com are crazy about their bikes and can take them apart and put them back together with their eyes closed. Hope to see you over there, too.

Sarah
