full face helmets vs. flip ups

The age would say change it, but the stink is controllable with a shot of Febreeze periodically...safe and really helps too.

Icky. I soak a hand towel with 90% isopropyl alcohol and wash out the lining about once every two or three weeks or so. Keeps it nice and fresh.

We've been wearing flip ups ever since the mid '80s when BMW came out with the first one. We have worn Shoei, Concept and Nolans. I think the Nolan is the best ventilated and most comfortable (for us) of any of them. I wear different ones depending on summer and winter. The Concept 2 is definitely the best winter helmet (blocks the wind from my under chin, etc.)

Also, a friend landed on his head in a Nolan (hit a deer), and although he had a concussion, he recovered find and I would say the Nolan saved his life.

Well, I thought I was on my way to a new Nolan flip up by this time. I placed my order thru JC Whitney and waited....and waited (they dont stock Nolans and have to be specially ordered). Finally, I got a postcard saying they couldnt get it. SO, I call in and ordered a different color which the operator said was available. And, again, I waited...until I got a second postcard with the same message...not available. Are Nolans that popular? I got a great price on it thru JCW but it doesnt do any good if they cant get it. I heard they are coming out with a new model too. Any news on the street about that one?

You might try Motorcycle Accessary Warehouse. Not a fancy web site, but I've done business with them once and was very happy. I got a white Nolan N100E on sale for $145. :) www.mawonline.com Also, Nolan has two new models, the X1002 and the N102. There was a review of the N102 in the last ON. More info on Nolan's Italian web site: http://www.nolan.it/home.asp

I just bought the BMW System V and I can't wait to put it to good use. It fits well, looks slicker than a greased pig, and is fairly light.

Try Helmet Harbor for your Nolan. The usual, just a customer. The new model, are you referring to the N102 with blue tooth compatibility? Not in the states, yet.

It was last Septemeber, but that was on their sale flyer. $185 from what I know is a very good street price. If you're not in a hurry, get on their email list, or just watch their web site frequently. They might put the Nolans on sale again. OTOH my experience with this product causes me to believe it's at the same quality level as helmets typically selling for $300+.
