1998 r1100rt, just got thru doing a trans rebuild everything went ok.tranny shifted thru all gears on the workbench ok.installed trans,no problem.put in drivetrain,no wheel turning. it took about a dozen attempts to get the drive shaft properly installed.even used the rag in the tunnel trick to help line the sucker up.still what pain in the a... so i am just curious as to how to go about it the next time.any good tricks out there?:german

first time i did it it took 3 hours, rag trick, friend helping, just wouldn't line up

i did it my self the second time within 3 minutes, the key, i found, was pulling the bottom bolt on the shock absorber, it allows the swingarm to come up a bit, making install more level.

you did phase the u-joints, right:banghead

yes,i did phase the universals trying to be carefulll not to turn the brake rotor during the installl.tommorow i'll take her on the highway to look for any vibration.but it should be ok.i might be off one tooth one way or the other but that should still be ok.
would have been nice to have a hole with a cover in the tunnel just to make sure.
