Anyone on the board have any experience with the Classic Industries Hitch from Australia on the R1200RT? I verified that they still sell one that works on my 2013 RT, but there are scarce few pics on their website, and they don't provide pics or installation manuals without an order.
I am aware of the Bushtec unit. However, I have a Wunderlich rear protection bar installed, which complicates muffler disconnection for tire replacement, and the Bushtec pics look like they will restrict swinging the muffler towards the tire once installed.
More on the Wunderlich crash bar.....once installed, there is a flat plate (to which the tubular bar is welded) which effectively covers the standard rear muffler hanger bolt. Net result, removal of the left crash bar is required to access that bolt. To overcome this, I replaced the standard bolt (can't remember if it is Torx or Allen Head), with a standard hex head bolt. There is just enough clearance between the Touratech plate and the muffler hanger to get a standard hex wrench in to loosen the bolt, however, to completely disconnect the bolt from the "captive" nut on the tire side of the hanger, it is necessary to swing the muffler towards the tire while loosening, maybe 1/2". Not much, but if doing so causes the muffler to interfere with the installed hitch, I may have a problem with my Touratech fix.
PS - I have a 20 year old Kwik Kamp cargo trailer weighing just over 100#'s empty. I tried a Bunkouse with my K1200KT (which is how I tow the KK today), didn't feel comfortable with that much weight behind me, but carefully loaded, the KK works very well for my purposes.
