Canadian gas mileage; revolution?

...why we Americans haven't switched is a mystery to me...Maylett

When the Liberals brought in metric way back when, we thought it was another Trudeau commie plot. Over time, we got over it, and learned to like it.

I seem to recall that when the Metric Commission was set up, many Americans thought it was a commie plot, and it was dropped.

I consider myself a full-fledged Canadian having emigrated from the US in 1970, obtained Canadian citizenship, and even learned to understand temperature in degrees Celcius. (Want a good enough conversion, C. to F.? 0=freezing, 5=40, 10=50, 15=60, 20=70, 25=80, 30=85, 35=95, 40=105. Close enough for what to wear when riding.)
Instead of memorizing all those numbers, it is simpler and a good approximation to double C and add 30 to get F (if C = 20, C*2=40, add 30 and F=70). Or start with F, subtract 30 and divide in half to get C.
