Campground locator?

Not sure if this is the best forum for this post but... I've done backcountry camping for years (foot and canoe) but little or no motor camping. On the bike I usually just pick a direction, go until tired, then look for a cheap motel. I see motels everywhere but notice very few likely places to camp (almost no public land in Texas and landowners don't appreciate tresspassers!).

How do others locate spots for MC camping? Am I missing something obvious here?

Camping with the corps of engineers

The book, Camping with the corps of engineers is a camping resource guide for the places the corp controls. Most of the camping is cheap and is centered around areas like dams lakes and streams, even the Cape Cod Canal. It's available at most camping stores. Gary

There's an iPhone app called CampWhere that lists all state, federal, and provincial parks. Good descriptions, google map locators, routing, etc.
