How much of the Puppy Dog route could you ride while attend this event?

Is this Puppy Dog ride a part of the rally?
Interesting minds want to know!

It’s not a part of the rally but you could do it. I’d start at the top, go to goshen the next day then Sunday, leave and do the rest of it.

can you answer another question about the rally?

I have a self contained Campervan, Ram Promaster 1500.
Is there space to park/use it at the rally?
tks,

I am not much of a gravel rider but if my memory serves me correctly, most of the roads in the area of the campground were paved. There was only one road that we stumbled upon that we did ride, but the option was there to turn around if we had wished. Again, mainly pavement in the area but I can not recall if the road leading into the facility was paved or not. If it wasn't paved, it was not an issue for non-loving gravel rider.

Hi, I'm happy to help. I organized the GMR for 3 years and may do so again now that I'm back up north if they'd like my help. It's a great club & rally.

There is not any RV parking officially but every year, we have 2-3 camper-vans / truck campers pack up on the south lawn so long as they know there are no services / hookups. You can sometimes find a power plug (120V) for your morning coffee but nothing heavy duty. If you can mostly run off-grid, it's fine and we put trucks down there so their noise doesn't disturb others.

Please email the organizers as soon as tickets go on sale to verify but when I was in charge, no more than 3 people ask for this and we're happy to accommodate.

So is this Green Mountain rally a largely off road/non pavement and camping (no event hotel nearby) type event? TIA

The GMR is about 250-350 people and the entire rally is just cabins/camping/meals/music/raffles and socialization. Everything else you choose to do is on you so there are no guided rides or clinics. I'll say, Goshen is PERFECT. You have Vermont's famous highways, notch roads, great pavement from lake Champlain down to rutland and over to Keene NH. Loads of roads.

Goshen also sits within the National Forest Service for Green Mountains so you have fire and forest service roads for miles and they're all open this time of year. NPS speed limits apply but it's very sparse so I've found I can ride at a pretty fast clip on my GS and have never had any close calls...your mileage may vary.

You can hop on the Northeast BDR, You can hop on the Puppy Dog Ride, Hit all of the Vermont Notch roads OR my favorite part, find class IV roads on Basecamp / Rever and have fun. I did a day once with the Quebec club from Goshen down to Killington on class IV roads. Really tough riding but a lot of fun.

Thanks. I wouldn't choose the RS as a "non-pavement bike". Real pavement is sort of a must for me. I'm fussy like that. ;)
Oh I should note the ride to Camp Thorp is NOT paved. It's 2 miles of unpaved hard pack with some loose rocks. Totally fine for any street bike so long as you're okay with some rock chips on the bottom of your exhaust as a possibility.

Adam said the Puppy Dog ride is not part of the rally.

Yep, Puppy Dog Ride + Food + Camping (free for members) is June 6th - https://bmwmov.club/events/

the GMR will be in September.

I'm happy to welcome everyone to both events. Vermont in June or September are both great months. June will have more Class IV (unmaintained roads) having just opened and they will be muddy. I encourage people to not do the NEBDR or any trails until late-tune because you're just making the roads worse but dirt roads like PDR are good to go!

Adam mentioned the gaps. If you look at a map of Vermont you’d see Route 100 running north to south on the east side of the Green Mountains and 7/116 to the west. You’ll see a handful of roads running between those highways over the spine of the Green Mountains. Those are the Gaps, some of the best riding in the state and the reason many Vermonters are unimpressed by roads with fancy names in other parts of the country.
