BMW Motorrad Demo Truck Tour Makes a Stop In Iowa

The truck made a stop at Bondurant Iowa yesterday and today. This is the first time I've done one of these group test rides. Never did it when they were at the Nationals.
We drove up to Bondurant yesterday, about 1.5 hours NE and test rode two bikes that might work for us two up. R1300GS and R1250RT.
Arthritus may prevent Debbie from riding her own bike soon.

Debbie was not able to get on the one in the shop in her riding gear but was able to get on the Demo bike outside. Maybe the one in the shop had the higher suspension and didn't have the auto lowering option. She got a hip cramp after getting on the GS and did not go on that ride.
At first she thought it had a lot of leg room but then realized her feet where on the rider pegs

She rode with me on the RT. Both of us felt like we had plenty of room on the RT to move around and move our feet. She said it was much easier to get on the RT compared to the GS. The little we both sat on the GS she felt she did not have much room.
I did not like the RT shied in my line of vision. Too many years of very short shields. I don't know if the RT had the short or regular shield on it. The seat felt too low but found it was in the low position after the ride. I was surprised I did not mind the higher bars.
The bars on the GS felt weird. I don't know if they are higher and wider than the RT.
The 1300GS really liked to rev. The GS only had 140 miles on it and the shift light was set around 5,000RPM. Seems like half the ride I could see the white light flashing in the edge of my vision.
When riding the GS I was next behind the ride leader and he told me stay close to him. He rode harder than he did on RT ride. One time when I backed off I saw 95 as I slowed.
If we decide to go the two up route I think the RT would be the better choice in the long run.

It was mid 90s and high humidity so I only rode the two bikes that might work for us.

After riding the GS I noticed you can check the oil on the side stand like the K1300S, after you know the difference between the centerstad and sidestand readings..

I asked the man and wife pair working the test rides how many people it took for the tour and how many trucks BMW had making the tour.
They said four people and they rotate with four others. The semi driver is also a ride leader. There is only one BMW truck making the tour this year.

I forgot to mention I was riding without ear plugs and thought the air noise was louder on the RT compared to the GS.
I had the RT shield in the low position. I forgot the GS had a adjustable shield and do not know where it was set.
Anyone familiar with the R13000GS may be able to tell from this picture.
Top of the shield is a few inches above the GPS mount.
