BMW ConnectedRide App crashing with latest version on Android

With the new app version ("MAKE LIFE A RIDE" icon) on Android the app crashes before being able to sign in. Android says it's a bug if you try to open it more than once. This has been happening for almost 2 weeks now. I've reported it to the email in the Google Play store, and was hoping others that use it have done the same (or are people able to use it on their devices without any issues?)

App version 5.4, running on Samsung Note 10, OS Android 12.

The support email listed is ConnectedRide@BMW.com - please drop them a line if you are having difficulty.

I've seen the issue on other forums, but haven't seen it talked about here yet, so I thought I'd post.

I tried that app on my I-phone and found it wanting so I ditched it. Haven't looked back...

Less than helpful. Since you have an iPhone and don't use the app anyway, there was no reason for you to post at all...

I like it for the post-ride data, and several other features, so I'd like to push BMW to fix it.

May not be helpful to you but I found the app wanting when I did use it. Successive updates haven't changed much in its ability to be 100% useful, at least to me. I may try it again in the future. YMMV

I think you’re just going to have to wait for the next update. The prior version on my iPhone always indicated the gas tank at 91%. This was fixed in the most recent update. It’s frustrating- I agree.

Unfortunately it's not a "sometimes" error for me. The app just does not open successfully. Ever.

Weird...it's running fine for me on a Samsung S23+ and an S20+. The 23+ is running Android 14 and app version 5.4. I don't have the 20 in front of me to check, but can check later today. I actually quite like the app and use it every ride with a ConnectedRide Cradle. That said, I did just order a Chigee so I won't be using it as often once that shows up. I wonder if the latest version of the BMW app just doesn't like your Android version being a couple behind?

Grabbed the S20 and it's running Android 13 and 5.4 of the BMW app. Seems to be working fine.

Sigh. Hopefully they'll put out a patch before forcing me to update. I've only had this device 4 years so far, was hoping to have it a little longer.

Latest released app (updated yesterday, 9/26) still failing. Sigh.
