Hi Folks

I have used this forum and gained a lot of info on a variety of topics. Now I hope to contribute something. This is my trip through British Columbia, and into Skagway Alaska, then home. I hope this helps if someone is considering this trip.

Link to heavily edited video of trip. About 5 minutes long. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3zyYjxR6_Y&t=15s

We started in Sandpoint Idaho and rode to Banff the first day. Stayed in the campground there. The next day we rode the "Icefield parkway" considered to be one of the most scenic roads in the world. It probably is. It was spectacular. Then we worked our way across BC, mostly going west until we got to Bella Coola. A great ride and a neat town. The next day it was back to Williams Lake as there are no other roads out there. Then we turned more NW and rode up to Kitwanga where we picked up the Cassiar Highway. A very scenic, good road, with little traffic for the next 400 miles, ultimately into Watson Lake, then into Skagway Alaska. At Skagway we took the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry to Bellingham WA, then rode highway 20 back to sandpoint.

Here is daily info. Where we stayed, contact info, and daily millages to get there. With this you will be able to figure out the route very easily. Not many roads out there.
Costs are in US dollars. Canada at about .75 at that time.....so a 200 dollar hotel was closer to 150 a night.

Part of the Icefield Parkway scenery. I am riding a 1994 BMW R100RT.

The road to Bella Coola has about 40 miles of good dirt. First 20 miles gently uphill, second 20 STEEP downhill, no guardrail and long drop-offs. Very scenic and fun. Highly recommend. Better on a GS but if you slow down and are careful, doable on an RT.

Hotel in Stewart Canada. Really quaint and bucolic town. Again.....highly recommend.

My friend rode a Yamaha Tenere with a Mosko Moto bag setup. Seemed to work well but the seat was only comfortable for about the first hour.

Folks
If you decide to do this, or a part of it, I am happy to help. I may be able to put you up in Sandpoint and I am certainly happy to help with info if I can.

One of our favorite rides; thanks for the memories.
