ANARCHY Photo Assignment: Weekend 11/10/07

_xy-1229055_1

I think I felt, Sunday night, like Josh felt the last weekend, setting up this type of shot, but the one at night like I posted in the other thread.
I'm still not happy with it, even in daylight but certainly, I just don't have the patience for getting it right. Today...

I do know that lighting is critical though. You should have seen me with the desk lamp and mag lights the other night. :ha

Don't know the projection; lazy damn National Geographic cartographers, but with my small travels & quaint adventures in a few counties over the past years, especially knowing those conditions elsewhere, I'm just feeling glad this world is growing successively smaller.
World harmony is attainable.

moved from the main thread by me...

The one thing I really noticed in both of Beerteam's shots this week was they were shot on what many would consider a dreary colorless day, yet the dreariness was minimized and the colorless sky wasn't allowed to dominate the overall composition or mood--and he found color and used it as a form of harmony. Low contrast, white bland skies can be killers in wide perspective shots and Beerteam used it to his advantage. Last week his shots exploited exactly the opposite environmental conditions (high contrast with directional golden light)--pretty slick! :thumb

And then again, it can really help set the mood as well

taken on a walk just after My Sister and I had spent the morning going thru the last of my Mom's things before clearing out her apartment, shortly before her death, the weather definitely fit my mood that afternoon....
It was raining as well, again it seemed fitting....

shooting while holding an umbrella can be a real pain!

and one from another of the new memorials, I forget which one right now. This statue really pulled me, I spent quite a long time just staring at her....

in fact it was these memorials on the mall I had hoped to shoot last weekend but couldn't find any parking...

Wouldn't it be fun if we could post pictures anonymously, only to have the "players" revealed after the weekend was over?

That'd be fun!

That would be fun. I suppose if it isn't technically possible via the forum software, perhaps each week a different participant could volunteer to receive submissions via e-mail, then post all the pics in a post or posts?

This one is definitely enhanced by the rain...

Kansas City Thursday Afternoon

It looked especially attractive driving North from the SE - an area somewhat unfamiliar to me.

All right, I'm new to this. But being a literal person, I'll submit one I shot today of anarchy.

I have a new Olympus Stylus and am having trouble learning to use it, especially since it doesn't have a viewfinder. The fence post is in the wrong place and I probably shouldn't have centered the hydrant and sign. But I want to dip my toe into this thread...
