Aftermarket Steering Damper Required - R1200RS

bc1100s

Left Coast Rider
My stock steering damper seems to have worn out in the middle of its working area - zero damping about 10 degrees either side of centre. Consequently I'm getting a slight oscilliation at the bar when cornering at, ahem, slightly elevated speeds.

Does anyone know of a bolt-on, quality replacement unit that will fit my bike?

Thanks in advance!

Either the Beemershop or EMP Performance will have something for your bike. I replaced the largely useless OEM damper with one from the Beemershop a few years ago already.. YMMV

If you are handy with tools and want to give it a go, an Aussie R1200R owner rebuilt his damper and it's been fine ever since.
Thanks for this.

I'm not bad in the tool handling department (hammers are my specialty!).
The pictures and description that "Panzerman" included are helpful in replacing the seals.
On my damper, the exterior of the damper rod is dry.

I forgot to mention that as the handlebars move further off centre, either left or right, I can feel the damping force return which leads me to believe that the internal body is worn in the working area.

I've got messages into Ted Porter and EPM Performance to get their recommendations.

Follow up...

The above-mentioned Yacugar damper is a quality piece. 24 clicks of adjustment from light to umphhh (heavy). I set it at 11 clicks from the lightest setting and it works very well, quelling the bar movement I had when cornering at "enhanced" speeds.

Two thumbs up to Ted Porter's Beemershop for a great product and even better service.
