Adjusting gear shift rod

So i ended up buying suburban machinery driver peg lowering kit.
I wanted to adjust the Rod length for the gear shift.
TO get the shifter lever to where i need to be comfortable i am looking about 130mm.
Per the repair manual the specifications says "distance between two ball-head centerlines 123.5 +/- .5 mm.
I have Gear shift assist pro ...
Will this impact the shift ability of the gear box, (it seems to shift through all gears now)...I am hoping i am not setting myself for failure down the road....

Any\all thoughts are welcomed, on this matter....

If you change the peg location the original spec becomes useless. I would ask your peg vendor for their advice, or use your 130mm determination and see what happens. One thing for sure: the OEM spec will put it where you do not want it.
 
I lowered the pegs on my '16 RT and was able to easily adjust the shifter position with a pair of wrenches. The turn buckle adjuster had plenty of range to meet my needs.

One thing that I'd like to point out is that the peg lower kit I used moved the pegs out from the body about 3/4" so I ended up putting a shift lever extension on to make it easier to hit the lever. http://www.iliumworks.com/BMW_Motorcycle_Accessories.cfm?pn=10-300&pID=2

They also sell an extender, but I would be surprised if they have done a research (facts and data) to what mechanical forces would incur if the specs are out of range,,

Well , guess I bit the bullet and went down this path..will just try it here for a couple of weeks

I can always re-adjust to original specs for any service work.

It can get expensive m but at least we have options. Which is good
