'71 R75/5 Center Stand Identification

My bike appears to sit on what looks like an aftermarket center-stand. I must say I'm not terribly keen on it, and I'm starting to look around for a stockish replacement of the type that hold the front wheel off the ground, and that one can drive off. The current unit requires that the rider push the bike off whilst standing next to the bike. It doesn't feature curved legs like the originals did. I'd still like to know the story behind this stand. Can anyone identify its origin?

Looks like an old Reynolds Ride Off. http://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.php?35420-Reynolds-quot-Ride-Off-quot-center-stand-vs-OEM

Really NOT AWARE of any centerstands for the /5's that one can ride of AND get the front wheel off the ground like the originals do.........The Reynolds was the way to go back then and still is for most. If you NEED to get the front wheel of the ground get a couple of 2 X 4's, on on each side of the bike. Lean it to one side, kick the 2 X 4 under that side of the stand and then do the same on the other side..........For me, it is THE way to go as it is stable, one can park on various surfaces, and ride off........to each his own.......God bless......Dennis

Hardly for most. It is the rare bike (thankfully) that comes through the shop with a ride-off stand.

Anton.............Back then, was MANY years ago as you know, and MOST DID BACK THEN ...........want one........lol.....thankfully, for you, few actually got them........God bless......Dennis
