23 R1250RT valve adjustment?

The service desk at my BMW dealer tells me my 23 RT with 12,000 miles is due for a valve check and adjustment! I asked what's the charge for that service. He said $2,000.00! Has anyone had that service and what did it cost them?

I've never had the dealer do a valve check on our R1200s or R1250s but I would think they could do it in a hour.
At 12,000 miles it probably will not need a shim change.
Even a full 12,000 mile service would not cost $2,000.

May want to wait until BoxFlyer chimes in.

Feel free to contact me via PM to see if you want to coordinate some service on your bike.
I usually schedule 2 bikes a day that include Cam Timing/Valve Clearance Adjustments/Adaptive Values Reset/Borescope documentation during one of the BMWST.com ART's Rallies...about 4.5hrs each including engine/ECU run-in for modules that need reset.
My fee is negotiable plus consumables cost...usually about $10-$15 for O-rings/crush washers and Top-Up oil of 8oz. Spark plugs are $15 each and doing oil change and air filter are other variables that can increase the costs as well.
Please, just PM's to see what you need.

If you're located anywhere close enough to have @boxflyer do the service (even a long ride away) have him take care of it. Your bike will amaze you once he's put his magic touch on it! No dealer is going to come close.
