2010 K1300GT : I smell gas after a short ride

My K1300GT only has about 30,000 miles on the odometer. The fuel pump was changed after I purchased this bike in 2018. After a short ride on December 31st I started to smell gas. Pulled over and stopped and was not able to see any sign of gas leaking onto the road or on any bike parts that I could see. Do any of y'all have any info on what might be going on with this bike?

It sounds like you may have a fuel leak. I’d suggest contacting your dealer with the VIN number and see if all the recalls have been completed. IIRC, there were two recalls on fuel issues—the first called for adding a reinforcing ring on the pump and the second an actual replacement of the pump.

If the fuel pump was changed after 2018 it probably has the updated parts but I would still check the fuel pump flange and quick disconnect.

Edit: I just looked at my K1300S fuel pump recalls. The first one was 2014 and the second one was 2020.

Ran my VIN through BMW Motorrad recall web page and the site returned no open recalls for my bike

Then it’s probably time to dive under the Tupperware and check the quick-disconnects on the fuel lines. The plastic male fittings are notorious for breaking and are best replaced with the newer metal ones from BMW or an aftermarket set like the ones from Beemer Boneyard.
