2009 Dakar Rally

Sadly, Pascal Terry was found dead.

American Jonah Street is doing well in 2nd place overall!!!

Autopsy shows he had a heart attack quite soon after setting off his emergency beacon. Even if he'd been found earlier, likelihood is he'd have been dead.

Tomorrow's stage is cancelled. Due to fog that's forecast they won't be able to cross the Andes back into Argentina in daylight, and the descent is too dangerous after sundown.

Despite the immense disappointment of not being in Argentina and Chile as I'd planned, I've been watching the TV coverage and I must say what beautiful scenery and what spectacular riding.

I was so taken by some of the vast dunes that I went to our local beach to scan the dunes for when my bike arrives. Honestly, our dunes look limp in comparison.

I need to ride one of those S. American dunes. Just one, just once. New goal, new dream.

Thanks Dakar.
