I finally got around to replacing the incandescent bulbs inside my instrument cluster with green LEDs that I purchased as a kit two years ago from a guy who calls himself Duck. Replacing the bulbs is straight forward if you know the secret code for the removing the instrument cable from the back.
I own the BMW repair manual, Hynes and a Clymer manual and I could not find in any of these manuals a detailed description of how to detach the instrument cluster from its cable. Since my entire bike is apart for steering bearing replacements, I took a few pictures of the culprit and will post some pics of the task (as soon as I figure out how I posted pics the last time - photo bucket
