1978 R 100 RS- looking for 40 MM Bing advice.

Another way to clean the stripped bodies is with an ultrasonic cleaning tank. My eyeglass doctor uses theirs to also clean my spectacles.

I like to use PineSol in an ultrasonic on carb bodies. It gives them a finish that looks like they're factory fresh and efficiently gets the crud out of the passages. Heating the parts for a while in the cleaner tank helps soften the gunk before you apply the vibrations.

I don't dilute the PineSol much, if at all, but don't let stuff sit in it any longer than necessary and rinse all parts carefully and completely.

I started with an $80 ultrasonic I got from Harbor Freight, but have moved up to a slightly larger one.

I've been struggling with a new to me R100RS. Yep, PO had one butterfly upside down, the other backwards. "Check the other guy's work" ia also good advice. Can't wait to put it all back together. Honeydoos need to get done first

I just got back from changing a rear tire at my shop and was told by my friend doing the work that the last time I removed the gas tank I put the line back on and found I had interfered with the choke cables working, Hence my sudden running rich. A simple mistake on my part or maybe one of those oh how could I be so stupid moments. At least now the bike is running again like it should be and ready to do the third hundred thousand mile run. St.
