iPod charging cord 2016 R1200RT

I’m sure if I searched a little I’d find an answer to this, I just thought I’d cut to the chase. I have a 2016 R1200RT, I currently own an iPhone 6 and I’ll be upgrading soon, from what I’m told, BMW doesn’t make an adaptor chord for the apple lightning charger that works with the chord located in the small top compartment under the throttle. Is there a fix for this?

Several vendors sell USB outlets that attach to 12 volt wiring. Installing one of these and using a simple USB-Lightning cord works. Vendors also sell DIN to "lighter" socket adaptors, allowing the use of a standard car style "lighter" power cord to be used. The latter is what I use, but I have a DIN (Powerlet) socket in my topcase so that is easy. The dash mounted DIN sockets also work for this purpose.

My 2016 RT has a USB plug in the right hand compartment so all I did was plug in a short lightning cord and all good!

Update on IPhone/iPod adaptor

I went to my local dealer, low and behold, they had the adaptor with the lightning connection that’s compatible with newer iPods and iPhone. I haven’t connected it yet, I plan on doing that tomorrow. I’ll let you guys know how it works.
