Garmin Express and Garmin Map Update 2018.20

Garmin Update to 2018.20

Just updated all 4 of my GPS units yesterday (NAV V, Nuvi 550, Nuvi 2539, & Montana 650). With Cable Internet, it only took about 30 minutes per unit, including updating GarminExpress. (I have 3 computers, so 3 copies of GarminExpress & BaseCamp). All units have been upgraded to at least 16gb storage on an SD card, so plenty of room so far. This 2018.20 update was a different size mapfile for each unit (as expected), and GarminExpress deleted the 2018.10 file after installing the 2018.20 file (on the unit, not on BaseCamp). This was the first system/map update since I bought my first Garmin (Nuvi 550, probably about 10 yrs ago) that went smoothly on all units, with absolutely no glitches in the process! Thanks, Garmin, for finally getting it right!

This was my first update, so I had to download and install Garmin Express first. Then I used a random cable to try to connect the Nav V to the computer. Express didn't see the device but pointed out that some cables are only for charging and do not carry data. So I dug out the cable from the Nav V box. Express then saw the Nav V. From that point on it was just a few clicks and a wait of about an hour or less and both the software and the maps on the Nav V were updated.
