Final Journey - BMW Owners News - May 2017 Issue

If someone had asked me if I thought an obituary section in a motorcycle enthusiast magazine was appropriate, I would have to think about that one for a while, and if I said yes, I would still be unsure.

However after reading about five of our BMW family who have gone before us in the "Final Journey" section (page 90), I would vote to continue to include when the Owners News staff had time to write appropriate and quality stories, as they did in this issue.

I am remotely familiar with two of the persons listed and would have never known what happened to them otherwise, or would have known much later.

Each of the five stories gives you the feeling that five families will greatly miss these five men and women.

Totally agree. the MOA, for all its faults and 'loose nuts and bolts,' is a much tighter-knit group than many other motorcycle clubs or loose affiliations.

Those long-standing members who have passed deserve a place among all who still belong.

FWIW the Final Journey pieces are submitted by members and/or family members of the riders. Not that MOA staff wouldn't write them if given the opportunity, but I just want to make sure credit goes where it belongs.

I would like to see a thread in the forum also listed " FINAL JOURNEY" . I was friends with or new four of the five , and I will miss them . I think it would be a great way for friends to reach out and say "so long".

Then start the thread, this idea doesn't require you be an MOA official volunteer. It is a good idea.
