Hello everyone! On Saturday 7/25 at 9am, the GS Giants are hosting an adventure ride for women, by women. This is a great chance for us women of the adventure riding community to share a ride and network with each other.

When: Meet at the GS Giant area for coffee and donuts at 8am and kickstands up at 9am.
What: A novice level route of 50-75 miles, but all levels are welcome. We should be back by noon.
Requirements: Participants should have a minimum of 50 miles of off-road riding and stopping OR have recently attended a training that covers stopping on loose surfaces and basic off-road skills.
Bring: Full gear, sturdy boots, water, snacks.

You must RSVP to Dawn at dawnshein@hotmail.com to attend the ride. If spots are still open we will have a sign up sheet at the GS Giants area at the Rally.

•8:00 am Coffee and snacks (probably something fun and unhealthy like donuts). Come over with your bike and gear, mostly ready to go. Should have enough fuel for 100 miles, we don't plan on a gas stop.
•8:30 am Women's GS Giants Raffle Drawing: For attending our women's presentation on Thursday 7/23 11:45am and/or this ride, we'll be handing out pink raffle tickets. Bring your ticket and hope to be the lucky winner of an Olympia All Seasons Expedition Transitions Jacket, a tool roll donated from Ted Porter, and maybe a few other items!
•8:45 am Riders Meeting, all riders must attend.
•8:55 am Super-quick bio-break, gear up and line up.
•9:10 am Ride leaves Metra Park
•12-1pm Triumphant Return!

Ride Info

Ride Info:
Description: Our route takes us through some incredible hills outside Billings.
Distance: 81 miles, please come fueled up for entire route.
Pace: On pavement we'll keep close to the posted speed limit. Off road I expect we'll be travelling anywhere from 15-30 mph depending on the exact section (curves, deeper gravel, ruts) and everyone's comfort level. Our goals are to stay safe and have fun, no pressure here!
Off-road Level: Novice. The roads are wide and graded, straight and some hills and curves. If it rains they may get muddy, but historically speaking rain isn't likely. Gravel can get deep in spots depending on use.
Requirements: We ask that riders who will join us have some off-road training and/or 50 miles of off-pavement riding with experience stopping on loose surfaces. Minimum of dual sport tires. Full riding gear including boots that offer ankle protection are required. If you have ABS and want to shut it off for the ride, please be familiar with how to do that.
You Bring: Water and snacks. Any tools that are specific to your bike and would not be in a generic tool kit. Sunscreen or a hat.
Leaders Bring: GPS, first aid kit, generic tool/tire repair kit, and camera

Route:
We leave MetraPark and take the interstate for two miles then regroup where we get off (I spent 4 hours trying different routes from the rally site to the start of the dirt, this is least complicated). By mile 9 we are clear of town and into rural area. At mile 14 the pavement turns to a wide gravel road that bends around and over the hills and you can see for miles. Mile 42 is where we get back to tarmac and stop at Chief Plenty Coups State Park for a restroom break and to celebrate with a group picture. Our ride back to Metra Park will take about an hour on straight and twisty roads through the Crow Indian Reservation and more beautiful farmlands.
