Front Brake applied but no brake light

Ron from BC

New member
'02 1150GSA with ABS II. Brake light works fine when the rear brake is applied however when the front brake lever is pulled the brakes work however no brake light comes on.

I believe I can hear the front brake switch click when applied as I can with the rear brake switch.

I think you're right....

Now I've looked at a parts fiche to see where it is in relation to the brake lever so in the morning I'll try and access it and put a meter on it.

Can you tell me where the other end of the switch goes? I ask as, while I can't say how long this problem has been going on, I did take the tank off the other day and I'm wondering if that switch wire could have been pinched/grounded when I replaced the tank??

Not familiar enough with the 1150 to tell you but I will send an email to GSAddict. He's an expert on these bikes and should know.

Solved!

After going back to womb with this issue and under the strict supervision of GS Addict the problem has been solved.

Stuck/faulty front brake micro switch. Working now but new switch to be installed....

GS Addict was kind enough to walk down about 20 flights of stairs to my level of electrical understanding....tx for your patience.

Yep, he's got the 1150 all figured out and then some. Glad to hear it is just the switch. I usually spray a bunch of WD40 in them before I give up on the switch completely. It doesn't take much to jam them up with dirt and such things.
