slash 5 turn signal relay wiring

My newest addition is a 1972 R75/5, it's a toaster! Among a few small problems (that's why it was sold) is a mystery wire in the headlight bucket. In the picture it is the short green wire that I am pointing to. Here is what I have to deal with; the ignition key will not work propertyly, it needs to be held down to activate the instrument warning lights and of course to make the starter fire off, if I tape it down it starts and runs. However, no headlight except for the flash function on the dip switch. No turn signals at all. Someone or perhaps a gremlin has been in this headlight bucket before as BMW did ot use those blue wire connectors when adding a wire!!! And a couple of other odd connectors.
My question is where does this green wire go? anyone have a picture?
And what is the fix for the ignition switch? How do you remove it from the housing so it can be cleaned?

Try some light amounts of electrical contact cleaner, like something from Rat Shack. What's happening is that the spring detent system is not springing into place to hold the nail key as it should. The small circuit board is held in by 4 tabs that are part of the inside of the bucket. Bending those are a real chore...they only need to be bent just enough to get one side of the board off. In order to retain or return the metal to it's original strength, you'll need to anneal the small tabs. This takes a very fine flame to get the tabs red hot but that can ruin the paint. Putting a cold wet rag on the outside can help to draw off the heat.

Good idea on the cleaning fluid, I'll get a reasonable dose into the piece. I think I'll wait on the blowtorch for now...the advice is very complete I must say, thank you. And the cold rag, one for the bucket paint, yes, perfect and maybe one for my sweating brow!
