Hello to everyone in bmw world! I was a casual rider both on and off road for many years. I stop riding around 1990 with the arrival of my secaond young child. In 2007 I was ready to start riding again and I began looking for a used motorcycle. My first choice was a bmw. I was lucky and found a 1999 R1100R that was six years old with 6,000 mi and a great price. After getting my riding legs back and take a satefy riding course, I really got back on the road. Last year I traded this bike for a 1999 R1100RT with only 24,000 mi. I am really starting to get out there now on longer and longer rides. I do have a question for anyone out there that can advise me. i would like to add a gps unit with an mp3 player and satellite radio. I am have trouble finding speakers that i can install in the fairing.

Hello Rampman, welcome to the forum. Your r1100rt falls into the part of the forum that's called Oilheads. It will be a good place for you to look for specific info on your bike. Other than that you might need larger tires and wheels this year for the spring RI pot hole event :D Rumor has it that RI is getting the surplus from up here in MA. Look around, have fun and if you have questions-ask, you'll get helped along just fine. Gary
