After checking brake fluid in my R90 I decided it was time to flush and change it. Is synthetic DOT 4 ok to use.? Having trouble finding anything else. Any suggestions?

3, 4 and 5.1 are ok. I have also seen fluid marked 3/4, which is fine. As noted above, the only thing you must not use is 5. The PO of my bike did, the entire system failed and it was a royal pain rebuilding the entire system. Changing the fluid every two years will extend the eventual need to replace the seals.

It sounds like you might be concerned about the term "synthetic" as applied to brake fluid. As both DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids are glycol based, the term "synthetic" really has no meaning. I'm confused why Castrol and some of the other makes use the term. Any DOT 3 or DOT 4 from a reputable manufacturer will be fine.
