Thought I would introduce myself...
I'm located here in the Northern portion of the Great Lone Star State of Texas...Been a avid rider for the last 4-5 years...but have been riding since I was 16 and haven't forgotten how...I ride pretty much year round as we can here in Texas...presently I'm riding a 09 Street Glide harley-davidson which is fixed up like a Ultra Classic and have recently bought a 76' 900 BMW which for the price is in great condition...haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet as to part it out or sale it as a hole or restore it...It has like 37,000 miles on it...Got it from a Dr. who has ridden it extensively...
Thought I would kinda par-rouse the site and take a look at what you guys have done with yours and kinda weigh all of it out and go from there...
Thanks
paul

Welcome to the forum. I just completed a trip where I rented an '09 Street Glide and rode it around the Daytona Beach area for a few days. That is one great running motor & transmission -- the torque that motor produces from idle makes riding two-up so easy. With the new frame and improved suspension, it handles far better than my '06 Softail does --- rock solid in a cross-wind, too.

I don't know much about the model BMW you currently own, but I know you'll find answers to your questions here at the forum. I've been here about a year now and have learned a great deal.

Thanks for the introduction and post some pictures of your BMW if you get the chance.

Howdy from another Texan (well, transplanted anyway...) -

What kind of BMW do you have? A 900cc bike? I can't think of any '87 vintage 900cc bikes. If it happens to be one of the air cooled twins from the '80s, their usually either 800 or 1000cc bikes. If so, check out the Airhead forum further down the page for some ideas.

Hopefully you can find some answers to where you want to go with your bike.

I'm bad...I edited my original post to reflect the actual year model I have...Its actually a 76' model...
I ran into a BMW motorcycle specialist today by the name of Bruce Davidson down at the local Harley Indy shop and he was gracious to take me over to his shop and and meet some of his projects he was working on...

That must be the "famous" Boxers by Bruce! I visited his shop 5-6 years ago (maybe longer than that) at an Airheads Tech Day...got to do my first spline lube on his lift. That was fun!!

That's right

Kurt
Just as soon as I get the bike brought back to the house I'm going over to his shop with it and let him see what he would recommend for it...
Hopefully get various concerns answered from him on which direction I should go to be most beneficial...
