My "balanced" breakfast on my way to the BMWMOA Open house on Saturday:

Rule of thirds? Uh, 1/3 protein, 1/3 carbohydrates, 1/3 gravy!!! :eat

Stopped for lunch at Lake Hope State Park. I am no professional photographer; but, I will work on it......

Balance ...

Balancing dark foreground vs light background
Powered flight vs "free" flight

This one has the same theme - just different composition. Also posting it to see what the "judges" find to be the more powerful image.

No balance here - just sharing pretty colors

Taken at Adirondack Balloon Festival

Balance is especially crucial at slow speed.

In gravel.

Escaping a storm. . .

Hmmmmmm nothing fits the theme in any of the pix I took this weekend.

I find that if I let folks read something I've written, they find all kinds of themes and meaning that I never (consciously) intended. Post something. Someone will find some balance somewhere.

Hell, even a lack of balance connotes balance. :banghead

Balance exists in the created worlds of physics and mathematics. The real world is irregular, asymmetrical, and asynchronous. :brow :gerg

And reality is unique, subjective, and dynamic.

So what's your point? :stick

:rofl

Mine suck. I walked around for a half an hour Saturday night taking pictures. No subjects, looking for my impressions of "Balance."

Edit: pictures eaten by dog

Well this is a lot harder than I expected. :) It's easy to wander around, shoot something that catches one's eye. It's tough to start out with a concept and find something that fits the theme...BUT it's good exercise. Here's my lame effort:

My wife getting her sea legs with her F800ST

My own critique:

Bull's Eye Composition
Human Tripod Shooting Perspective
Underexposed
In general, a rather "lazy" effort.

What do I think might have made this more compelling?
Place Subject Slightly Off Center in Frame
Lower or Higher Shooting Perspective (Most Likely Lower: Ground Level?)
Tighter Crop to Minimize Background or Showing Just Her Feet/Left Foot
Exposing for a Silhouette

My point as in agreement with a previous post which said ...

Hell, even a lack of balance connotes balance.

I found resonance in that! :thumb

Paul,

It's good to know that there's some order in the chaos, huh? I'm glad we have two "sides" to our brains. I don't know what one would do without the other. Here's to you: :thumb

The balance tips...

... toward the new generation.

This weekend, Ryan Villapoto make the rest of the world eat roost at the Motocross of Nations in Budds Creek, MD. This kid absolutely spanked everyone, even though he was riding on a 250.

Seconds later after this shot, a couple of riders balled it up right in front of Ricky Carmichael (he's riding the red #1 plate), who went down in the tangle. I got a shot of him restarting his bike, but, oh... I wish my little point and shoot camera had a motor drive.

I chose this shot for its composition... however, I wish I was angled up just a bit.

I especially like the colors which seem to flow from the Red Bike counterclockwise

So, Tom, did you get a "third" of the casino winnings? :brow

My wife has a different sense of composition. When we entered the casino I spotted her $20 and even picked out her machine. 10 minutes later, she had won 6,000 quarters. The slot attendant got a C-note; the casino manager got $60.

I got my $20 back.
