Was at a rally last year, and a rider calls in that his bike shut down on him. It was found out he had gotten Diesel from the super unleaded hose.

Ever since I've been sniffing the spout, and making darn sure of what I'm pouring into my tank.

Has this ever happend to anybody else?

Unfortunately this happened to me.

Last year on the way back from the 2003 Falling Leaf Rally I was heading back home along the Mississippi River Road when I stopped for fuel in a small town in southern Wisconsin. Apparently I had not been paying too much attention when I grabbed the nozzle and pushed the premium button and began to fill her up. I had already put about three and a half gallons in the tank when I noticed sort of an orange color tint to the fuel. I immediately bent over and took a good sniff only to realize to my horror that I was indeed filling up with diesel. I thought how in the world could that have happened. Since when do they have regular unleaded, premium, and diesel all coming out of the same nozzle?
It took me a couple of hours to find a hose to siphon out the fuel and a container to put it in. Needless to say that I now carry a length of hose which will insure that I will never make the same mistake again.
