Backrest/rack for 1996 R1100R

I can't seem to find a backrest or a luggage rack for my '96 R1100R.
I have factory bags and seat.
I would prefer not to change to a seat with a built-in backrest.
I would like to have one that bolts on independent of the seat.
Anybody have any ideas where I could look?
Givi offers nothing for that model.

BMW offers an OEM rack for later R1100R bikes, but my experience was that you only need to slightly notch the bottom of the side panels of the earlier R1100R to fit. You wouldn't see the notch and you could do it nicely (use a Dremel).

You could do what I did and custom fit a BMW topcase on the OEM rack. Some are designed for a passenger to lean against. Jerry Finley of The Pirates' Lair was experimenting with making a backrest to fit the R1100R OEM rack; I don't know if it ever went into production. His backrests are high quality and limited production, and his prices reflect it.

Salt Lake BMW may still make a rack/backrest combo for the R1100R, but you might find it fugly.
