have a 78 r80/7 that is due for rings. Other then the BMW brands out there , are there better ones at competative prices ? and if so who sells them ?

Hastings can also supply rings for BMW airheads. You will need technical info, such as available from the service manual, to order. I think that it would be best to speak with one of their technical folks when placing the order. See:
