Transmissions vented ?

Were all ‘55-‘69 transmissions vented. Were they vented thru the bolt (with a hole in it) at the speedometer gear drive on top right side of the transmission or somewhere else ?

I’m looking for cause of a new transmission input shaft seal leak. The bolt at the drive on my unit is a solid core and not a vented bolt.

Any information regarding above conditions will be appreciated.

You found your problem. The bolt on the transmission for the speedometer drive should have a hole in it to serve as the transmission vent.
