R1200RT (2011) Service Manual

I've just bought my second BMW (the first was in 1972, with Harleys in between), and I've had zero luck finding a hardcopy tech manual. BMW has an expensive CD that I don't like, and I don't want to set up my (old and heavy) computer in the garage anyway. Does anyone know of a good tech manual for my bike?

Welcome to the community,

I do not believe there is a hardcopy such as Haynes or Clymers available yet for the newest variation 2010 and up model.
More opinions and info coming...hold on.

I too prefer the paper manuals...

From the dealer I bought:

BMW Motorrad repair Manuals...R Models K2x street...4th edition.

...and its not much for the price...very disappointed.

God Bless America,

Thanks for the replies. Guess the only thing to do is pitch a bitch to the company. They need to document their product. Or do they think their customers can't read?

Good luck finding a manual. I got so tired of waiting for a manual for my '07 that last spring while my wife and I were in London sight-seeing, we purposely sought-out a Foyles (book store) and I bought a nice hardcover Haynes manual that covers '04-'09 models. '07 was the minor update year for that series of RT and Haynes didn't see fit to update their manuals with the changes until late '09 or early '10. You could have a wait in store...

I'm pretty sure they think their customers can read, I guess they didn't think that they wouldn't be able to use a Windows computer. The product is pretty well documented on that (expensive) DVD.:laugh

CD Works Fine

I have used the BMW CD for the last four BMS's I've had and I find them excellent. Easy to use and comprehensive. I carry a cheap disposable notebook on the bike when I travel to review the manual if necessary, GPS routing, emial, and photo's. Works for me !
