Greatest photograph in the history of mankind

600px-

I always liked this one: "Earth First! We'll ride other planets later!"

However, after watching An Inconvenient Truth I tend to think:
There is no where else we can go.

Yes, yes. U of Missouri - Rolla for my bachelors/masters/whatever, then.. we'll see where I end up. Lots of little steps towards the one big goal.

Good for you! :) I hope I live long enough to tell people that I knew you when you were poor and rode an Airhead.

What have we done since the 60's that is remarkable? That generation took what we would call low tech electronics and bold fearless ideas and put people on the moon.

Fritz says that he is a Democrat. I think the place he worked required him to be a Democrat. It was a little like the Borg. You will be assimilated.

Hey General Koppa, even the military guys are getting off of Bush's wagon!!!
Also you should be very aware of the fact that living in the town we did you most certainly had to be a Republican to get anywhere. It may surprise you to know, I voted for Goldwater, Nixon three times then Ford before I saw the light and became a Democrat. Carter was a rebound candidate who had no chance of being reelected and Reagan slid in under the bar. It was Reagonomics that finally clinched it for me. Then I realized in my career I was supposed to be like the Remora that hangs onto the shark and feeds on the scraps that "Trickle" out of the sharks mouth and that is what I had to live on. Remember Reagan's "Trickle Down Economics" . Then I realized just how egocentric the Republican party is.
See you at "A" rally this year? Been a few since we "Ran" into each other.

You guys are all wrong. This is the greatest picture of mankind.....

my friend's got that image tattoed very big across his whole lower forearm.

rollie free, he's in "world's fastest indian" (or at least an actor portraying him is)

Just imagine how much further into space, how many more diseases would be cured, how much more advanced we all would be.... if men could go more than a few seconds without thinking about the female anatomy. I know from first hand experience..

On the other hand, we would have probably been extinct a million years ago and accomplished nothing.

Here is another good photo.

When you think we are important, just look at this photo to see how insignificant we really are.

800px-Astronaut-in-space.jpg

At about 100 meters from the cargo bay of the space shuttle Challenger, Bruce McCandless II was further out than anyone had ever been before. Guided by a Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU), astronaut McCandless, pictured above, was floating free in space. McCandless and fellow NASA astronaut Robert Stewart were the first to experience such an "untethered space walk" during Space Shuttle mission 41-B in 1984. The MMU works by shooting jets of nitrogen and has since been used to help deploy and retrieve satellites. With a mass over 140 kilograms, an MMU is heavy on Earth, but, like everything, is weightless when drifting in orbit. The MMU was replaced with the SAFER backpack propulsion unit.

I must agree with Fritz. After spending 16 years in the military serving in the Army and Air Guard / Air Force. I have never seen an administration so out of touch with military strategy. The Powell doctrine was thrown out the window.
Old Don Rummy HATES the military. He booted all the brass in charge of commands at the Pentagon. That is why there are so many contractors like Haliburton and Blackwater in Iraq. I am not sure about the new defense secretary.
Nobody can imagine the fleecing of the taxpayers in this country. Why do you think the government wants to close so many active duty and guard/reserve bases in the states? Haliburton is just raping the U.S. Government in Iraq.
There used to be a time when the military had their own cooks and security. Now someone is making big bucks in this country.
I no longer support any issues of the democrats and republicans. Both parties are dirty and out for themselves. It seems as though the American people have thrown their hands in the air and have given up on speaking for their rights as U.S. citizens.
I could go on and on with all the horse hockey in the current administration. I love my country but, disagree with both parties of government.
