What do you sing/hum to yourself while riding??

For those of you who do not listen to electronic devices while riding, do you have a particular song or songs that you find yourself singing (or humming) while riding? These can be favorites, or even one of those nagging songs or "jingles" you can't get out of your head that you picked up somewhere in your subliminal past.

Mine's from the later category. It' a bit disturbing, but I'm going to get it off my chest. There was a time in my past when I used to listen to country music. It just happend, OK. I've been in recovery for a while, but when I'm on a trip, I invariably start singing Toby Keith's "Should have been a Cowboy" inside my Arai RX-7 Corsair (the acoustics of which leave quite a bit to be desired). I can't seem to make it stop. Are any of you plagued with such an affliction? If so, do tell.

A wide variety of stuff, whatever pops into my head. But for longer rides, I like songs with a lot of verses. A couple examples: John Barleycorn (English folk song) and Abdul Abul Bul Amir (novelty song that I learned listening to Dr. Demento).

David Bowie's "Space Oddity" pops into my head a lot:

"Ground Control to Major Tom
Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on
Ground Control to Major Tom
Commencing countdown, engines on
Check ignition and may God's love be with you..."

I also frequently have "Hunger Strike" by Temple of the Dog pop into my head. A lot of it is mood dependent, as well. If I'm happy and feeling good it's going to be some fast rock-type song.

Today has not been good to me; to the point I fired up the bike and took a ride randomly about town in the dark for a while. Meh. Song of the night is "Nutshell" by Alice In Chains..

Honestly, I tried the iPod and in no small way, 80GB, loaded up with 4300 songs and set on shuffle. I thought, "yeah, man, tunes and the road, how great that would be". Nerts. Maybe I'm a newbie, ok, I am a newbie at least getting back to "real" motorcycles (yes, ok, an ET4, even though in this state you can get your "M" (motorcycle) class license, is not, in some opinions, a "real" motorcycle).
Anyroad, what I've found is that music is, at least pumping through some nice in-ear phones, a distraction. Lately and until I get sick of it (and that may be a good long while) I'm going sans music, preferring the sound of the bike and the wind. I prefer in this area (west of Chicago) to be fully sensitized to what is going on around me, that means sight and sound.
Maybe I'll go back to the jams, I dunno but for me at least, the music of the road is where it's at for me.
Besides, I've found that the songs that jump into my are are definitely not tunes I would want to hum.

Anything ZZTop if I was to run anything through my brainbox that I'd like. Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings comes to mind.

The theme from the movie Patton is somewhat appropriate while thrashing a piece of Germany at high speed around the countryside........
:nyah

Wife and I went to UNO'S to eat.

We were one of two couples in the place. The music was loud, thumping, crap. We asked to have it turned down. Eventually the junior exec manager came by to chat with us, explaining the music was "part of the dining experience":sick

Well, to steal his phrase, the engine, tires, wind, etc are "part of the riding experience." All of it is music to my ears. I may be a little nutty, but the entire sensory experience while riding is what it's all about for me, although sometimes the lyrical baritone voice of Hermann Prey singing Lieder flows through my brain.

I sing the most obvious BMW motorcycle theme song... "I Can't Drive 55"!!!:clap

Mekanik Kommandoh by the seminal French prog-band Magma.

When I'm not actually listening to the original on the iPod, it's looping in my head.

Christian Vander has been my favorite drummer for the past 30 years or so.

When I'm riding and I cannot actually hear anything because of wind noise, I hear "You Can Still Rock In America" by Night Ranger. I don't know why. :scratch

Could be worse. Could be Manilow ... :sick

song in my head

generally...
the dead..."hell in a bucket"
commander coddy..."hot rod lincoln"
and some other song that i can't think of right now

ABBA to YYZ

Ok I really don't listen to ABBA but it made for a cool title line. Mostly I just listen to the road and the bike. When I used to race I would listen for the cars around me and used that as a warning device. I still do that on the bike. As I get older and my hearing gets worse I find it hard to listen to the wind/road noise and music at the same time. Occasionally YYZ by Rush will pop into my head. My daughter has a knack for getting oddball songs stuck in my head (the Knack, "My Sharrona"? Dang it, its stuck). Or "Time Warp" from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Let the therapy begin........

You've never really heard "Time Warp" unless you've heard it sung around a campfire by some BMW riders. It's extra entertaining when they dance, as well. DAMHIK. :nyah

I think I have heard of the "Loud, thumping Crap" :laugh
They play on every car stereo that drives by our house.

You response should have been "food poisoning can also be part of the dining experience, that doesn't mean everyone enjoys it."
