Little Glitch’s Back to Riding

Getting my gear together to get back to riding. Found one boot in my closet, finally found the other one. Great. Then this.

The shifter pads on the top of the boots fell off.:banghead

They just don’t make boot’s like they use to. Maybe time to go down to the RedWings boot store and get a pair of engineer boots like I used to wear. :brow

I generally like RT’s painted in factory color and motif, but I think this is a good custom paint job. Nice Bike. :groovy
Nice, as is. But a little more compression, big valves, dual plugged, 40mm Bings, so on and so forth. 70HP Oh well.:brow

Back to Riding

It’s been quite the experience. Getting bikes up and running and getting my gear together. Been digging thru closets in the house and into bike saddle bags to pull the stuff out. Right off the bat, found the one piece Stich. Dug out the gloves, helmets, liners, heated gear, etc..

Old School Gear

Riding the R90 and R100 Airheads, I like to ride in old school biker gear; leathers as an example. I had a 2 piece cloth wax cotton English outfit. Belstaff. I had a buddy, the late John Lyle, Lena, Ms. who rode year round all over North America. He had the 2-piece outfit. Saw him in it, when new; cool. Put it on my list to get me some. After a few years of hard riding, he had just about totally destroyed it. That’s another story. I asked him about Belstaff, good stuff was the answer. Bought the jacket at one National and a few years later bought the pants at another National. Sometime along the timeline, bought the Stich and the English gear hit the closet.

Kevlar in the butt and knees. The jeans are heavy, so I use a heavy belt and the suspenders. It’s good to have protection on when riding. :thumb

Frogg Toggs

In the closet digging for gear found a green bag that was falling apart.

Out fell the rain gear. I remember now.:laugh

The bag was gone, but the gear still looks good to use. Looks like Frogg Toggs is still in business, with a lot of different types of gear for sell.

More Gear

My plan is to ride thru the winter. No, not every day. I’ll pick my spots. Here the winters are generally considered mild. It seems we get a lot of cold rain, fog, mist, general dampness, frost. We get are share of freezing rain, some snow, road ice, etc.. But in between we get some fall like sunny days of decent riding. But, it gets cold with the short sunny days and the long cold nights. Gotta get out early to enjoy the day rides. At the same time the long dark cold nights, gotta have good warm gear, bike has to have good lighting and visibility, for the dark ride home. On my list, getting a high viz outer vest to wear over the black leather.
